Subs or 6x9's?

So what is better for the bags? Some say the 6x9's but past stereo experience always tell me its the subs. However that always been cars and not bikes. I was at Eastside Harley last summer and they had a bike that was sounding very good. They took a 6" sub and put it in an enclosure then actually ported the saddlebag. I can see the idea why it works, but I am a little leery of cutting a whole in my bags

2 pairs of 6.5s in the lids. No hacking the bags and they rock. Plus the round speakers are alot cleaner than the 6x9s

If you are cutting holes in the bags facing the rim, then 6x9's would be your best option. Beyond that getting multiple drivers in the lid has been the only real solution that I have found, whether it is custom or production made, 2-3 drivers per bag lid has always outdone any subs alone that I have tried & heard personally. Just my 2 cents....

Are you talking like 2 or 3 - 4" or 5" mid range drivers in the lid? anyone make a lid to fit that?

We have made custom lids to fit triple 6.5" full range drivers. They really hit hard and crisp, but they do take up some space and add a decent amount of weight to the lid. Still takes less space than cutting into the side of the bag and images better for the rider. These were a custom design that we experimented with a long time ago but never went to production with them yet. Pretty sure camtech and other custom builders have made some multi-speaker lids in the past as well.
