Paint-What should it cost?

Just for sh!ts and giggles I called up a shop out in AZ that I figured would be on the high side for a quote.

To paint my front fender, rear fender and saddlebag bottoms Black Denim I was quoted $1850!!!! To add the red pinstripes was another $100-150. Breakdown was $450 fr fender, $500 rear, and $900 bag bottoms....Holy Crapola!

Tell me that really is the high side. I know that black denim is tough to match. But I was, naively maybe, thinking $1000-1200 is what it would cost me.

I'd like to know what people have been paying or have been quoted for similar stock matching paint jobs.

I've settled on a paint shop closer to me. He's being fair and told me he needs to see my parts before he quotes me. It's all Yaffe/Ness stuff.

around here its 1800 to 2000 for 2 tone hok. for everything. all 13 or 14 pieces. im sure this is the low side . and our economy is in the toilet. I did my whole bike 7 years ago for 850 bills that was one color. paint it self was 450.

depending on how much body work is needed, around here 2k gets you a single color paint job on a bike with minimal body work needed...

depending on paint type that sky rocket. addictj and josh's paint is about 800-900 for the color/mid coat alone - now add primer/sealer/clear/reducer/activator + time you can see why they charge so much

My dads painter in NC is awesome and charges about $200 a piece. $1850 is insane. Go somewhere else

Remeber you get what you pay for. Prep work, material type, warranty etc. All plays the part in the price. One color bagger is 3k at our shop. However all parts are painted in and out blacked out on the insides painted with PPG product, because we are authorized PPG shop. The paint has a lifetime warranty through PPG and we offer a lifetime warranty on the labor to the original purchaser. All things to consider when price shopping.

Well said CAM.

Paint pricing can be very dynamic based on part condition. Almost anything aftermarket needs prep or body work more than a stock part which increases the price.

True Kustom warranties all work for life to original purchaser and we are a PPG shop as well.

$250 booth minimum.

I do not think $1850 is out of line assuming all the parts are aftermarket and will need body work to finish properly.
