So because of the Theft of my Saddlebags and Side Covers I'm going to get enough money to replace them AND paint the whole bike (plus have enough to pay the labor on building up the motor a little bit) SO, here's the Question, Should I get Flat Black with Blue Flake, or Flat Black with Blue Pearl? The Flake will show up more and the pearl will create a more subtle look, both would only really show up in Direct Sunlight though. Also I will have the Harley Logo Pin Striped in Black and Blue on the Tank and Road King Pinstriped in Black and Blue on the front Fender, with some additional striping on the rear bags and fender and all will be covered with Eggshell Clear Coat (Flat Clear Coat) to seal in the striping.

I think flat with blue pearl! Will show a little more. Any pics of this on any bikes, cars, etc to get an idea?

How much did you get from insurance for the theft? I love when a bad experience turns out great(like my wreck)

Insurance is looking to be around 3k after deductible, and no I looked and looked but couldn't find one, my painter says the blue pearl wont show as much as the blue flake, so not sure, but im gonna see if he can show me some templates, I'm kinda leaning towards the Blue Flake but well see. and I will DEFINITELY have pics when It's done. I'm gonna start a build thread when It's finished.

Damn $3k for bags and lids. Pretty good. You going to go with stretched bags now? Im no painter so I figured pearl would show better.

When you get a template/bike is done(whichever is first) post some pics. Mine is in shop now getting a full paint job and work done. I CANT WAIT!

I wrecked(which sucked) but I walked away with barely any damage. So the thoughts of modding were already going through my head. Sucks they got jacked but It will all work in the end. I would def. look into some bag locks(not the lid locks). Ive heard a bolt with a nut is a good and cheap way to do it. Since whoever jacked them may be on the prowl once your bike is back up.

Solid Flat Black with the blue tossed in, and then pin stripping, then flat clear over it. No real design, and no to stretched bags I'd scrape the shot out of em lol I scrape the pipes and floorboards at stock ride hight now

I like flake but on bobbers,IMO too much space on a bagger for it . Pearl looks good on alot of space and I like matte finishes too. My last bike I did silver metalic with flat clear.

Yeah I found Bags and Side covers for $400 total, then paint will be $1500. Insurance is more than paying for the replacement bags and the paint job. and Yeah I've been looking at some flat black with flake paint jobs and I'm starting to lean towards Blue Pearl or a Blue Metalic.

So Blue Pearl or Blue Metalic?

Thats a nice paint job but no I'm looking for a solid paint job, one color, but I don't wanna do just Flat Black I wanna mix it up a little, and Blue is a favorite color.

So what you're thinking is lay down flat black and then blue metallic or blue pearl over it?

ANy metallic/pearl you flatten after you spray is going disappear for the most part. A buddy is doing his black with green pearl over it and it looks awesome. He was afraid to do the whole thing green, so he is using pearl over black. On the flats it looks black, all the edges and hilites show up in the light as green... It would be a subtle look that would change when you get closer to it.

I'm no artist and my wife says I'm color blind, I would say get swatches of the colors and see what combo appeals most to you. Also make sure you get Brukus or some other system to secure your bags.

Ok so I saw some color tabs my buddy made up for me with the different combo's and I'm sold on the Blue Flake, its VERY subtle not the over the top flake that you see on a lot of Low Riders but very nice. And I just used some 3/4" Bolts and bolted my bags down, after the paint I'm gonna RED LOCK TIGHT those bitches and I should be just fine, Bolts = Free, Red Lock Tight = Already on the shelf = Free lol I'll start a build thread for the paint and the motor work once I get everything Done. Here's a Hint though DIAMOND CUT HEADS ;-) I cant wait
