Is a 26" Vee Rubber tire DOT compliant?

My buddy is getting his 26 and 9/9 rake. The guys at the HD dealer in St. Joes, MO were telling him that the tire isn't legal. I told him I'd throw it on the forum and see. Not sure it even matters, unless in MO they have motorcycle inspections.

I was actually calling him, to tell him to get that tire mounted to see if it leaks air while the bike is still apart. He said they were trying to mount it and scratched the wheel. They sent it back to PM, supposedly PM will get it fixed and mount it. Ha.

Ok. I see it is 67H rated. But not sure if it's DOT.

Kinda surprised that kind of tire gets an H rating. Rated up to 130 mph.

I dont think its dot. But I do know that the tire sucks. They all lose air. Some will go down 20lbs in a day. I put 6 oz of tire slime and drive it for about 10 mins at 50mph.....its seems to hold air well after that. I heard of people putting tubes in but they dont make a 26 tube. Someone told me its a 21 tube that they put it but i dont know if thats true. Who knows.......tire sucks but theres only one tire company making 26" and 30" so f it. Sometimes its hard looking so good!!!!

I sprayed soapy water along the edge of the rim and it leaked through the bead. A friend of mine said to deflate it and massage the edge by pressing down on the bead and cleaning the contact surface. I never tried it, but worth the shot.

Thanks for that tip. He sent his wheel back to PM to get fixed. He may as well see if they can put a tube in it while it's there.

Hmmm...let's put a bandaid on it. Hopefully they're concentrating more on a tire that holds air without a tube

Tap it!

You would think a tire that holds air could be made... They have only been doing it for over 100 years now...
