Insurance

Do you guys have Insurance on your bike for the just "stock" bike's value, or do you buy overage to cover the extras? I looked into upping my bike's insurance awhile ago to cover the majority of my extras just in case something happened to the bike. After receiving the quote I opted not to purchase it. I was just curious what others did to protect their investment.

I agree. God forbid some numb idgit backs over my bike....I want as little out of pocket as possible to chop the neck of my bike and set it up with a sweet 26"

I used to own some shit!
I have stock "for an Ultra" plus 10k. May go to 15k at some point.

Having this coverage can save your wallet in the event of a total loss.

You can do a "stated value" insurance as well. They charge you for it though!

Can insure at an appraised value or you can also do an insurance bond for the value.

Only place that i could find to insure it was progressive. All the other specialty places have this thing about it being over 38 or 40 degree rake. In the end I ended up with progressive and if it gets stolen I get $65K. It was the most that they were allowed to do. My insurance went from $600 - $1,200 a year.

I did like vrog just not as much. I have progressive with a stated value of 50. I pay 800 a year. I lost my ass back in 97a when my ironhorse got stolen. Expensive lesson to ride that shiny pos

I have state farm. I asked about extra coverage just last week. My agent told me to keep a receipt for EVERYTHING and it would be covered. No such thing as a chrome rider with State Farm.

I just wonder how these companies would feel if they knew about the raked frames and other potentially "dangerous" mods.

Be careful.......... Thats not true at all. You have to pay a premium for extras.

Progressive sent an appraiser to my house to inspect and take pics of my bike. He was a nerdy guy, He said "damn that thing is nice, i have know idea what i'm looking at, but its nice! "

I have Geico and didnt have any additional coverage for the mods. I may now since I was in a wreck and have expensive paint, bags, fender, etc now. I pay $ 510 now. That is with $5k medical and $50 deductible. I will call and see what additional mods cost me to add.

I cant complain about my coverage with state farm thus far. I've had a few claims over the years and so far I've always been pleased with the results. I specifically asked for a rider but they said it wasnt necessary. No matter who the company is your insurance is only as good as your agent!
