Hello all,
My current set up is Hogtunes tweeter pod and Hogtunes Hybrid 5 1/4 Batwing speakers... And I'm okay with the sound but when the bass hits some times I can hear the speakers sound muffled. So my question is should I add an amp or should I buy a whole new set up like the MPAK 4 from ARC? I know that the power from the factory radio can only do but so much and then the distortion kicks in... So I figure if 108_0832.jpgI add a amp I will get the sound I want...? So please give me your thoughts. Oh, one other thing I know the ARC system will probably sound better than the Hogtunes, but if I can save a few bucks and get the sound I want by just adding an amp to what I have then I'm cool.

I just did the same speaker upgrade and and new radio and I experience the same thing so I'm gonna go with a hog tunes amp easier on the budget

Adding pieces, to experiment, may cost you more in the long run.
You definitely want an amp, either way.

Stock headunits do not have the power to push any decent speaker. The hogtunes stuff is a great start for speakers but you definately need an amp to drive them. The ARC 125.2 is a great amp, I have put a bunch of them in. There are a few options out there.

I sell the ARC amps for $325 retail but I will do $299 shipped for ChoppedBaggers members.

Another option to go with is the Alpine power pack. At $149 retail this unit has better headroom and cleaner power than the Rockford fosgates that claim more power.

I can do one of these to CB members for $130 shipped.

The Mpak 4 is a great upgrade. Good power and nice 6.5's to increase your bass performance. The kit rocks, Amp, speakers, rings and an install kit for the amp.
This unit I can do for $450 shipped.

Next is the Mpak 6. Better speakers for $100 more bucks. Same great ARC amp and install kit. The MOTO6 speakers have more high end clarity to pierce the wind.

$550 shipped.

the arc amps are awesome but imo their speakers leave alot to be desired. arc amp and level 1 focal speakers will blow the MPAK out of the water and for 500 bucks you cant beat it. just my .02
