Anybody installed a drop seat kit?

yardsale

Up in da one fiddy...
My kit should be here in the next week or two. The main issue I read about is the accelerometer mounting for the newer models. The original FBI kit changed the factory orientation and under hard acceleration, the sensor would turn the bike off because it's designed to kill the ignition if the bike falls over. It sounds like they have come up with a new mount that fixes the problem. I haven't heard of any other issues but I'm a little nervous about the FBI ABS manifold and how the brakelines will fit. I'll post pictures on how the install goes.

We install them often and offer a bodykit for them that enhances the lines. Don't know of any problems at all with the FBI kit. W are a dealer if u need one.

Brother, I was about to start a Thread about this very subject. Im 6'5 and 270lbs and I dont want to sit "on top of the bike" I wanna sit in the bike, like I did on my softail, I sold my deluxe in order to trick out a RG, but after sitting on several touring bikes, I will have to run a 3 inch drop kit. I dont wanna run 20 inch apes on it either, hence getting the drop seat kit. Id like to run some modified beach bars or some mild apes. I think the drop seat will help me fit in the bike and be able to rin some smaller apes and still be able to stretch out my arms.

Another question I have is can you run side panels with a drop seat kit? Ive called sinister industries and Yaffe and HHI and no-one can tell me. Im sure you would have to trim or cut to fit, but you would also think someone would make some panels. Seems like the Camtechcustoms guy would chime in on this subject. Since he mentioned they offer a body kit.

You would think that there is several people on here that have drop seat kits. Maybe everyone is average height. LOL Seems like Im a bigger fella.

I am also looking into this... Compared to my 06, the 2010 Bagger is wayyyyy taller at the seat. Or at least it seems that way.

Hey, Highliner! I took your advise and signed up here (you may remember me as Jerry L). I just got a partial FBI drop seat kit (frame part only, still need seat and side panels). Wondered if anyone makes side panels similiar to the standard FBI ones but with more flare at the top to blend in more with the stock tank? Or maybe some flare like the sinister panels? Wonder if Camtech could custom make some seeing as how they already have a body kit for it?

I have some that I scratched up I'll sell you, find a good fiberglass guy and the skies the limit!

Camtech makes a tank overlay/side cover kit for the drop seat that is the shizzle!

By any chance is there something for an 04 Roadking? I want to drop my seat too! :upset:

You would have to hand make it as the frame on your 04 doesn't simply bolt together like the newer frames.
