Air cleaner cover ideas

I need some ideas on how to cover my air cleaner. I put this in the body section cause IMO the cover has to kind of flow with the bike or it just looks out of place.

Requirements of the cover.

Must mount with a center bolt to work with my air cleaner. (Using Zippers back plate with built in nitrous nozzle so other mount styles are out)

Needs to attempt to cover the arming switch for Nitrous system (part of the back plate) I could move the switch in closer to the air filter if needed or relocate (if all else fails)

I used to own some shit!
I would say definately relocate the arming switch. It's gonna take a pretty big cover to mask that switch mounting plate.

A simple 1/8"x3/4" plate with a nut welded to it mounted to the to most horizantal standoffs would act as the base. And I would be willing to be that Traceman could machine you a custom cover with a hole in the center for pretty cheap.

Don't know if this will help but I took the stock football air cleaner and cut the center out, just enough to cover the air cleaner. I thought I had a picture but I don't. I can take one tomorrow if you need to see it. Damn sorry I just saw the arming switch. Yea your gonna have to move that or have a BIG air cleaner cover.

That's easy. You can get a cover from Harley or someone else that just covers the metal face of the filter and only attaches with the center bolt. Looks pretty Sharp and that way you can buy and rain a rain sock on that filter as well. I believe Ness also makes an adapter to use a Derby cover on that air cleaner. Either option looks pretty Sharp.

I also should say you will want to move the switch in and possible tape and spray it wrinkle or flat black and the rain sock will help disguise it.

If I move it, i'll rewire it and move it up to the dash next to the ignition. That might happen anyway. I didnt screw with it right now because I have so much other crap to work on. I wanted to get it in and tuned asap to try and beat the spring rush.

I'm not totally sold on the whole open filter style like that one, plus the zippers filter is huge!

Well this is the cover I made. I just made the center section that looked like my wheel. I would move that nitrous switch somewhere closer to the action like the handlebar or maybe the dash. I believe Streetglides have empty spots for toggle switches. I sure wouldnt want to be fumbling around down by the carb if I was in a race. And besides if we made a cover to hide it then that would limit your access to it also. I have had no problem with an open A/C. I have ridden in the rain several times with it and didnt have a rain sock. Didnt seem to affect it.

I'm not too worried about getting to that switch in a hurry, its only an arm and disarm switch. Activation comes in automatically throught the ECU. I really like the look of that air cleaner you made, wish I had that kind of access to tools.

I think I'm gonna get the S&S one and paint the screen in it and maybe fill in the lettering. Nothing too crazy. This whole nitrous setup is really limiting my choices! Kinda sucks!

Hey Quick... I went to the Drak from Vance and Hines... still long like the football, and no badly priced on ebay... I liked it, kind of went with my theme... V&H has another one with the 2hole opening that looks kind of kool also... It may be plety long enough at the back for your switch. I have my switch located on the back of my horn... uh, I mean, IF I HAD NITROUS, i would put the switch behind the horn...

there is an air cleaner there, the girl is just the distraction!
