23" T Trees

So Im looking for some of you that have had first hand as to the diffrence, Im doing a 23" wheel on my 09 CVO Road Glide, I will not cut the neck, but I will install the Trees my questions is which one and why, HHI or Kewl Metal 12", I see that both are made of billet, Kewl are a little more, but they both achieve the same thing, here in the West all I see is HHI, so I cant say anything about Kewl, so the reason for my question.

Thank You in advance.

We have been doing kewl metal trees on the west coast here in northern california. My customer is very happy with his bike and he rides the shit out of it. Just 2weeks ago we rode like 300miles. We also use HHI ones too but have only done them with cutting the frame.IMG_3794.jpg

Hey Nautical, not to steal the thread, but is that a 21" Klock front fender with that 23" wheel? Since finding this forums I now feel driven to go to 23" and I have a clock 21" fender. Not looking to repaint a front fender again and wondering if it this is what I can expect it to look like... A little out of place, but not a bad fit for the bigger wheel. You can PM me if u don't want to waste Felix's thread.

But this is a good question he has, since I just couldn't see myself going thru cutting the frame, just add the neck kit if it wont make riding dangerous!

Up in da one fiddy...
I did the Kewl Metal 12 deg trees and a 23" initially. Everybody who has HHI's loves them. So I don't think you can go wrong with either. That said, its still a fair amount of work just to install new trees. The stock frame is 26 deg. and stock HD trees are 4 degs which means the stock rake is 30 degrees. Assuming HD trike trees are 7 degs., you are only changing the total rake 3 degrees which is very subtle. You have to ask yourself if its worth all the work for such a subtle change.

Going with a HHI 9 degree or a Kewl Metal 12 degree puts you at +6 deg and +8 deg respectively and it begins to "look" like you actually did something. Anyway, this is the process I went through and eventually I went from "no way am I going to cut my frame" to "where are my welding goggles?"

If you were going to cut the neck I would say HHI all the way, but since you don't want to cut I would say go with the Kewl's. HHI's are made to be used with a neck raking and Kewl's are made for not cutting the neck.

I have a set of trees coming from Pickard that don't require the neck to be cut either. I'm doing a 23 also on my 2011 RG. Should have them in hand within the next 2 weeks. Went with these wheels.

Thats a good flowing wheel, that should look good, what fender are you going with, as Im on the fence with a wrap or classic.

Please do show the trees you reffer to, like to see what you got.
